BACOLOD City – The Army and the police arrested two suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) who are facing murder charges in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Authorities identified the two as Jayson John Gazon, 30, and Kenneth Nabong, 31, both residents of Barangay Buenavista.
Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, commander of Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), said that police served an arrest warrant for murder against the two suspects, while the Army responded to reports on the alleged presence of armed men in the area.
Pasaporte said he has no idea about the said murder case, adding that they will still have to check the background of the suspects.
Pasaporte said Gazon and Nabong were alleged members of the NPAs Sentro De Gabridad (SDG) Platoon of Central Negros 2 (CN2) and allegedly served as couriers of the group.
“Sila ni ang gina sugo kis-a na magdala ka supplies sang grupo,” he added.
No firearms were recovered from the two suspects, who are detained at Himamaylan City Police Station.
Pasaporte said they are still validating if the two were part of the series of encounters in Himamaylan City in the past weeks.
