ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Two tricycle drivers were wounded in a shooting and stabbing incident around midnight on June 4 at the Water Village in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City.
Police identified the victim as Norwel Bigcas, 43, of Barangay Lawaan, and the suspect as Stephen Cesar, 37, of Barangay Culajao.
An investigation by the Roxas City Police Station indicated that Bigcas invited Cesar for a drinking session before the incident.
A heated conversation ensued between them during the drinking session.
Police said Cesar went home and returned a few minutes later.
Without saying a word, Cesar allegedly shot Bigcas three times, hitting him in the hand.
Bigcas managed to fight back by stabbing Cesar in the shoulder and right back.
Residents immediately brought the two to a hospital for treatment.
Responding personnel recovered two fired cartridge cases for a .45-caliber firearm allegedly used by Cesar.
The firearm was later turned over to police by alias “Kim.”
Police are looking at misunderstanding and drunkenness as the possible motives behind the incident.
