ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Two individuals tested positive for illegal drug use during a surprise drug test Monday morning, March 30, at the Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal here.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, along with the Philippine National Police, the Land Transportation Office and other government agencies, conducted Oplan Harabas, a surprise drug screening for drivers and conductors, at the terminal in Pueblo de Panay.
Authorities tested 205 individuals during the operation.
Of the total screened, two drivers — a tricycle driver and a traditional jeepney driver — yielded positive results for methamphetamine, commonly known as shabu.
The activity formed part of PDEA’s anti-drug campaign targeting the transport sector.
Jury Rocamora, provincial officer of PDEA Capiz, said the activity was part of a nationwide operation focused on drivers and conductors to help promote drug-free public transportation.
Rocamora said the identities of those who tested positive in the confirmatory screening at the PDEA regional office would remain confidential.
Authorities said the drug test was conducted to help ensure passenger safety and deter illegal drug use in the transportation sector.
The campaign also sought to remind drivers and conductors of their liabilities under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
