Two suspects nabbed in separate Capiz drug stings

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A driver was arrested late Tuesday afternoon, July 28, in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Angub, Cuartero, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect only as “Rey,” 32, a resident of Barangay Nagba in Cuartero.
A police poseur-buyer allegedly purchased a sachet of suspected shabu from the suspect for PHP 1,100.
Operatives also recovered three more sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 1 gram, with a standard drug price of PHP 6,800, and a black Rusi Breeze 150 motorcycle.
The suspect is in the custody of the Cuartero Municipal Police Station and will face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, a former overseas Filipino worker classified by police as a street-level individual was arrested Tuesday afternoon, July 28, in a separate drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Roxas City police Station Drug Enforcement Team along Plaridel Street in Barangay 8.
Police identified the suspect as Jun Fritz “Bornok” Anonoy, 32, a resident of Barangay Punta Tabuc in Roxas City.
Operatives recovered three sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 5 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 34,000, and PHP 1,000 in marked buy-bust money.
Barangay 8 Councilor Mario Bautista said the suspect was a stranger and was not known in the village.
Bautista reminded people who use illegal drugs to stop because doing so would not benefit them.
Police said they conducted surveillance and monitoring for a month before carrying out the operation.
Anonoy is in the custody of the Roxas City police, while charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165 are being prepared against him.
Republic Act No. 9165 penalizes, among other offenses, the illegal sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Sections 5 and 11, respectively.
