Two suspected gunrunners were arrested in an entrapment operation on the morning of May 25 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Sherlyn Matias, 23, of Barangay San Juan, Molo, Iloilo City, and Jhonreel Roscales, 28, of Sitio Talotuan, Barangay Wright, Tapaz, Capiz, were apprehended after selling handguns and spare magazines for P28,000.
A police poseur buyer allegedly bought three units of caliber .45 pistols (Rock Island Armory) with serial numbers 005621, 005281, and 005136, each with a magazine inserted, and three spare magazines.
Members of the PNP Regional Intelligence Division 6, Regional Special Operations Group, along with Iloilo City Police Office – City Intelligence Unit (ICPO-CIU), Iloilo City Police Station 5, and Passi City Police Station, carried out the operation at Summer View Subdivision in Barangay Guzman at around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.
Also recovered from the suspects were a sling bag, a shoulder bag, and two mobile phones.
The suspects are now detained and will be charged with violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
