ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Two siblings drowned to their deaths while swimming in a river Saturday morning at Sitio Balud, Barangay Matagnop in Dao, Capiz.
The victims were both minors, 13 and 8 years old.
According to Norma Alteza, her two grandchildren asked permission from her to go to the river for swimming.
But unknown to Alteza, the two victims were accompanied by their two other siblings and two cousins.
It is believed that the two victims did not know how to swim, and they took a dip in a deep part of the river. The two did not surface for about three hours until their bodies were found floating in the water.
The family of the two siblings asked financial assistance from the local government of Dao.
