Two motorcycle riders were killed, while two others were wounded in separate road incidents in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Police refused to name the two fatalities upon request of their families.
According to reports, the fatalities’ motorcycle collided with a passenger jeepney around 2 a.m. of July 26, 2022 along B. Aquino Ave., Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Claudio Superales, Jr., driver of Sta. Barbara-Iloilo City jeepney and resident of Barangay Sta. Teresa, San Miguel, Iloilo, claimed that the motorcycle was running on the opposite lane when the incident happened.
He said he stepped on the brakes but the jeep still crashed with the motorcycle.
The victims were thrown off the motorcycle and suffered head injuries. They were rushed to West Visayas State University Medical Center but both did not survive.
Lieutenant Colonel Marlon Valencia, Iloilo City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit (ICPO-TEU) chief, said the riders’ families claimed they will not pursue criminal charges against Superales.
Meanwhile, two persons were hurt in a road crash that transpired 7 p.m. of July 25 at Barangay Hibao-an Norte, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The incident involved a Yamaha motorcycle and a Mitsubishi Mirage sedan.
Motorcycle rider Reymer Sedano and his backrider Ma. Guia Briones, both residents of Tubungan, Iloilo, were passing by the area when they were hit by the sedan driven by Jose Benedicto Sorilla, a resident of Barangay Aganan, Pavia, Iloilo.
