Two motorcycle drivers were killed after their vehicles collided with each other evening of June 12, 2021 in Banate, Iloilo.
Police identified the fatalities as Roden Castro, 26, a resident of Barangay Balunos, Anilao, Iloilo, and Mark Loui Arroyo, 32, of Batangay Carmelo, Banate.
Castro and Arroyo were rushed to Gov Niel Tupas Sr. District Hospital in Barotac Viejo town, where both were declared dead on arrival.
Castro was driving a Rusi 125 motorcycle from Concepcion town when the incident happened.
Arroyo allegedly encroached on Castro’s lane as they were navigating Barangay Alacaygan around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Lieutenant Randy Lambungan, Banate police chief, said both riders suffered head injuries.
Lambungan is not discounting the possibility that both riders were driving at high speed as it was already too late for them to avoid collision on a four-lane road.
Apart from the heavy rain, the area was also poorly lit.
