Two riders were killed following a collision late evening of May 1, 2022 in Zarraga, Iloilo. Two riders were killed following a collision late evening of May 1, 2022 in Zarraga, Iloilo.
Police identified the victims as Leorin Busil, 40, of Barangay Balud 1, Zarraga and Dhomer Yurong, 28, of Barangay Sambag, Zarraga.
Busil was rushed to Don Jose Montfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo town but he succumbed to head injuries and multiple fractures.
Yurong suffered head wounds and a fracture on his left arm and was taken to Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan.
Chief Master Sergeant Jeffrey Sirue, Zarraga police investigator, said both riders were declared dead on arrival.
It was gathered that Busil was on his way home from a fiesta at Sitio Bliss in Barangay Jalaud.
On the other hand, Yurong was on his way to Barangay Bungco, Pototan when the collision occurred.
While navigating Bangga Bante, Zarraga, Busil allegedly overtook a four-wheel vehicle. He encroached the opposite lane and collided with Yurong.
Sirue noted that the victims might be drunk and were not wearing protective helmets when the accident happened.
