Two riders were killed after their motorcycles figured in a head-on collision on June 1, 2022 in San Rafael, Iloilo.
Police identified the fatalities as Joel Silao, 36, a carpenter and a resident of Sitio Kilometrahi, Barangay Calaigang, San Rafael, and Edziel Bayson, 19, a resident of Barangay Freedom, Alimodian town.
Police tagged Silao, a carpenter, as the victim while Bayson, a Criminology student, was allegedly at fault for the road mishap.
Silao was driving his black Honda XRM from his house to Calaigang village proper when the collision happened around 12:55 a.m. Wednesday along Sitio Kilometrahi.
Bayson’s black Rusi 125 motorcycle bumped into Silao’s motorcycle, which was traveling with the headlights turned off.
Staff Sergeant Leonil Gamayao, San Rafael traffic police investigator, said Bayson was believed to be drunk when the incident happened.
His cousins claimed that the suspect was with them before the incident.
Witnesses claimed he was speeding when the collision happened.
Both riders were brought to Gov. Neil D Tupas District Hospital in Barotac Viejo town, but Silao was declared dead on arrival while Bayson died shortly after.
