THREE motorcycle riders were killed in a road mishap in Miag-ao, Iloilo evening of Sept. 20, 2019.
Police identified the victims as Jude Ibot, 23, of Barangay Igpuro, Miagao and John Candeleon, 19, of Barangay Mat- y, Miag-ao town.
The two were navigating Zulueta Avenue around 9:30 p.m. when they were sideswiped by a Ceres Bus driven by Jully Credo of Culasi, Antique.
Initial reports claimed that the bus was at fault for cutting into the victims’ lane.
But Police Captain Hermogenes Eulatic, Miao-ao police chief, said a footage from a dash camera showed that it was the motorcycle that encroached on the bus’ lane.
The two eventually fell down after they were sideswiped and were run over by a public utility jeepney (PUJ) following them.
One of the victims died on the scene while the other died at the hospital.
Eulatic said the family of the victims declined for an out-of-court settlement.
Charges for reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide are now being readied against Credo and jeepney driver Ariel Fundalea of Miag-ao town.
