BACOLOD City – Two persons, including an elderly man, died in separate drowning incidents here and in Negros Occidental last Sunday.
In Murcia town, Dionisio Malunes, 58, of Barangay San Miguel, went fishing when he fell into the river at the said village.
His body was later found floating at Bago river in Barangay Lopez Jaena.
The victim suffered injuries in the different parts of his body and was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.
Meanwhile, an unidentified senior citizen was also found lifeless floating in a beach in Barangay Punta Taytay.
Police Major Ritchie Gohee, head of Police Station 9, said the victim’s remains have yet to be claimed as of yesterday.
Gohee said the victim was reportedly left by his two companions after they had a drinking session.
Gohee said some people tried to revive him but to no avail.
