Two nabbed, PHP 1.7 million shabu seized

BACOLOD CITY — Two people were arrested for the alleged sale and possession of dangerous drugs in Bacolod City and Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, leading to the confiscation of PHP 1,768,000 worth of suspected shabu.
On Sunday, a 32-year-old man was caught by personnel of Police Station 1 with 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 1.36 million in Barangay 39 here.
According to the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), the suspect, identified as alias “John” of Barangay Estefania here, was tagged as a high-value individual and listed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
He was previously arrested in 2024 for a drug offense and was released in January this year.
He was allegedly sourcing his supply from his sibling and distributing it in Barangays 12, 29, 34, 36, and Singcang-Airport here, police said.
Meanwhile, about 60 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 408,000 were seized during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on Friday.
One of the three suspects was arrested and identified as alias “Buti,” 22, of Binalbagan.
Police said the operation stemmed from information alleging that a drug delivery would be made from Hinigaran to Barangay Sum-ag here.
During the operation, the three suspects allegedly conspired in the illegal drug trade.
However, aliases “Nik” and “Ron” managed to evade arrest and fled toward a nearby sugarcane plantation.
The seized substances will be subject to laboratory examination as part of procedures in drug cases under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director, warned that those who continue the illegal drug trade should expect sustained and determined police action.
“We will not allow illegal drugs to gain ground in our communities,” he said in a statement.
