Two motorcycle riders killed in road mishap
BACOLOD City – Two motorcycle riders died after a dump truck ran them over at Purok Amoravieta, Barangay Antipolo, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on June 1, 2021. BACOLOD City – Two motorcycle riders died after a dump truck ran them over at Purok Amoravieta, Barangay Antipolo, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on June 1, 2021.
Police identified the fatalities as motorcycle driver Rene Montaño, 43, of Barangay Buenavista Rizal; and his companion Omar Domingo, 35, of Don Salvador Benedicto town.
Police Corporal Genesis Beñas, traffic investigator of Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said dump truck driver Leomar Alvarez, 29, of Bago City failed to notice the victims who fell from their motorcycle because of the slippery road.
Beñas said the dump truck was tailing them at a close distance.
“Wala sila na kita dayon kay lapitanay lang man gap ka vehicles, nalapakan gid sila,” he added.
Beñas said the victims, who were on their way to work, succumbed to head injuries as they were not wearing helmets.
Beñas said Alvarez, who was unharmed is, detained at the police station. He will be released from police custody if no charges will be filed against him within the 18-hour reglementary detention period.
