BACOLOD CITY — Separate shooting incidents left two men dead in the towns of Moises Padilla and La Castellana in Negros Occidental on Friday.
In Moises Padilla, a 43-year-old man identified as “Ermie” was fatally shot by two unidentified suspects in Purok 1, Barangay Magallon Cadre.
The victim was sitting in front of a roadside store when the assailants approached.
One suspect pulled out an unknown firearm and shot the victim five times before fleeing on foot.
Police Maj. Romulo Gepilango, chief of the Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station, said the victim was declared dead at a hospital.
Recovered from the scene were five empty shells and three fired bullets believed to be from a .45-caliber firearm.
Gepilango said investigators are looking at personal grudges as a possible motive, as the victim was recently involved in a drunken altercation.
In La Castellana, a 37-year-old man identified as “Jerwin” was killed in Sitio Nahanunga, Barangay Biak na Bato.
According to a witness, the victim was found lying on the pavement while two unidentified suspects fled toward a nearby sugarcane plantation.
