BACOLOD City – Two persons were found dead in separate areas in Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
In Calatrava town, police are looking into land conflict as a possible motive behind the killing of a farmer at Sitio Bandera, Barangay Bantayanon.
The victim was identified as Vicente Daniel, 58, of the said village.
Major Ronald Santillan, town police chief, said the victim was shot by unidentified armed men inside his nipa hut.
His wife, who went to visit him, discovered him dead.
Santillan said the victim received a threat over a land dispute about two months ago.
Aside from this, he said they would also check if someone had grudges against the victim that could be linked to the killing.
Meanwhile, Kemark Villanueva, 26, of Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City, was found lifeless in the said village five days after he was last seen alive on August 18.
Based on the investigation, the victim had a drinking session with his friend in the said village on the night of August 18.
However, the victim did not return home until his family was informed on August 23 that he was found with hack and stab wounds.
He was already in a state of decomposition, according to the police.
