Two persons were killed in two separate and unrelated shooting incidents in Tigbauan, Iloilo on Nov 28, 2020.
The incidents happened five hours apart with the first victim found in a creek at Barangay Taro, a village more than 10 kilometers away from Tigbauan town proper.
The bullet-riddled body of Jessie Turao, 35, a resident of Barangay 8, Poblacion, was believed to have been discarded in the creek.
A tanod from the nearby Barangay Dapdap reported the incident to police authorities around 3:40 p.m.
Captain Roy Castro, Tigbauan police chief, said the victim suffered gunshot injuries on the right side of his face, right portion of the chest, and abdomen.
Residents told police investigators they heard around six volleys of gun fire before the body was found.
They then saw a black vehicle speeding towards the town proper.
Castro said they are still investigating who could have been responsible for Turao’s killing.
But their records showed that the victim was the no. 1 drug personality on Tigbauan police’s drugs watchlist. He was also arrested for a drug-related offense on Aug. 16, 2016.
“After that, we had no holdings on what happened to his case,” Castro said.
Meanwhile, a shooting incident at Barangay Taro around 8:45 p.m. of Saturday claimed the life of an electrical engineer of the Iloilo Electric Cooperative 1 (ILECO 1).
Lany Mequierme, 40, a resident of Barangay Bayuco, Tigbauan, was killed after he succumbed to a lone gunshot injury below his jaw.
He was rushed to Rep. Pedro Trono Memorial District Hospital in Guimbal town but was declared dead on arrival.
Prior to the shooting episode, Mequierme‘s nephew, Aljohn Mequierme, arrived with a “black eye.”
When he asked Aljohn what happened, the latter claimed he figured in a fracas.
Lany and Aljohn went to the area where the commotion happened between the latter and the group of Javier Supe, a resident of Barangay Lanag.
A confrontation happened between Lang and Supe until another commotion erupted.
Witnesses claimed that Supe later shot Lany.
The suspect fled and remains at large as of this writing.
