Two more Filipino athletes will join the decorated list of those who qualified for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Swimmers Luke Gebbie and Remedy Rule beat the buzzer and will be on the bus on the road to Tokyo after being hailed as the top point earners in the International Swimming Federation (FINA).
After the point tabulation, Gebbie accumulated a total of 828 FINA points while Rule went two points higher with 830.
The Philippine Swimming Incorporated then confirmed their status and passed their names for the finalization of FINA and clinched their Olympics seat.
“We congratulate the two swimmers for making it to the Philippine Olympic team. We thank them for their continuing dedication and sacrifice to serve our country well and we wish them all the best at the coming Olympic Games!” said PSI president Lani Velasco.
Gebbie will compete under the 50 and 100-meter freestyle category while Rule will represent the 200-meter butterfly and 200-meter freestyle events.
PH national swimming team head coach and a renowned swimming staple Sherwyn Santiago will supervise Gebbie and Rule heading into the Olympics.
