Two ex-NFSW leaders pledge support to gov’t.

BACOLOD City – The 605th Maneuver Company (MC) of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-6 welcomed the decision of two former leaders of the National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW) to pledge support to the government in Negros Occidental.

This, after the former chairman and vice-chairman of NFSW approached one of the personnel following the community support program of the unit in one of the barangays in Escalante City on Jan. 29.

According to the 605th MC, the former NFSW chairman aged 54 and the vice-chairman aged 78 served the non-governmental organization (NGO) for about 13 years before becoming inactive.

The 605th MC said they were the first to pledge support to the government through the “One Filipino Initiative” Program of the unit that was created in December last year.

It has been the objective of the program to make all the Filipinos unite and be one to have a safer, peaceful and progressive community, according to 605th MC.

The program also aims to encourage those who have been against the government to be back in the folds of the law.

Through this program, law enforcers were also able to reach out to far-flung communities by providing them basic needs, and educating them on insurgency.

The two former NFSW leaders already underwent briefing with the City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (CTF-ELCAC) to discuss their livelihood program and other benefits from the government.
