An elderly woman and a motorcycle driver died in a vehicular incident early evening of July 2 in Buenavista, Guimaras.
The incident claimed the lives of Rosalinda Alianza, 69, of Barangay Tastasan, Buenavista, and Michael Gallo, 31, of Barangay Gaban, San Lorenzo,
Michael’s backriders, his brother Marjun Gallo, 26, and cousin Adrian Gallo, 22, also from Gaban village, were wounded but survived the incident.
Major Jefrey Ferrer, Buenavista police chief, said Alianza was walking home when the incident happened.
Michael was believed to have been speeding and lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve.
He, unfortunately, hit Alianza, who was just several meters away from her home.
Ferrer said it was likely that Michael and his two backriders were drunk when the mishap happened.
They were rushed to Buenavista Emergency Hospital but Michael was pronounced dead on arrival.
His companions are still confined but in stable condition.
The victim, on the other hand, was brought to Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital in Jordan town.
However, she was declared dead at 2:30 a.m. on Monday.
