BACOLOD City – A man was shot dead, while his uncle died in an explosion at Purok 2, Barangay Acaba, Cauayan, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The victims were John Rey Delocario, 27, and his uncle Roy Delocario.
Police investigation indicated that John Rey, who was allegedly armed with two hand grenades, went to the house of the suspect identified as 18-year-old Renjie Layan, and challenged the latter to a fight.
But Layan reportedly shot John Rey that led to his death.
Roy arrived and picked up the grenade and allegedly tried to throw it at the suspect’s house, but he tripped over and fell on the ground, causing the grenade to explode. He died on the spot, police reports said.
Layan and his family fled, but he surrendered later that night to the police and turned over a homemade 12-gauge shotgun.
