ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A person died while four others including a village councilor were injured when a car rammed into a concrete fence Saturday evening at Brgy. Agkilo, Panitan town.
Police identified the fatality as Sonia Aguilos, who was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
The wounded were Kagawad Joseph Denobo, driver of the Toyota Vios; Mario Aguilos, and a minor girl, all of Brgy. Intampilan, Panitan; and Diolito Dolor of Poblacion llaya Panitan.
Investigation conducted by Panitan police indicated that the victims were on their way to a hospital to have Mario treated for a stomach ache when Denobo tried to overtake a motorcycle.
But Denobo miscalculated his movement and crashed into the concrete wall.
Bystanders rescued the victims and brought them to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a village councilor died after his motorcycle crashed in a bridge railing at Brgy. Balighot, Maayon town Friday evening.
Barangay Kagawad Rafael Dacibar, 53, was declared dead on arrival at Bailan District Hospital.
Police investigation indicated that the kagawad was on his way home about 9:30 p.m. Friday when he lost control of the bike and crashed in the steel railing.
