BACOLOD City – Two persons were dead in separate hacking and stabbing incidents in two towns in Negros Occidental in the past two days.
In Binalbagan town, Gelberth Panoy, 42, of Barangay Santol died after he was allegedly hacked by Olivert Aliponso, 38, of the said village last Tuesday.
Police investigators said Panoy and Aliponso had an argument after their liquor drinking session which triggered the suspect to attack the victim.
Panoy suffered multiple hack wounds that caused his immediate death, while the suspect fled.
The following day in Hinoba-an town, Marcelino Lagoras, 69, of Barangay Asia was killed by 56-year-old Rodolfo Alingasa of the said village.
Police said the victim and the suspect had grudges against each other after the victim allegedly cut the suspect’s Talisay tree.
The barangay tried to settle their misunderstanding, but that day, Alingasa allegedly attacked the victim with a knife.
Alingasa is now detained.
