ROXAS CITY, Capiz– Two reelectionist mayors from the First District of Capiz lost their reelection bids in the May 13, 2019 elections.
Mayor Gedeon “Ike” Patricio of Pilar, Capiz lost to Vice Mayor Arnold Perez in a five-cornered fight.
Perez got 10,099 votes as against Patricio who got 8,992 votes, or a margin of 1,107 votes.
In Panitan town, reelectionist Mayor Generoso Derramas lost to former Mayor Katherine Dequina-Belo in a four-cornered fight. Belo got 10,481 votes against Derramas who got only 8,975 votes, or a margin of 1,506 votes.
Derramas and Patricio were both running under the Liberal Party of losing senatorial candidate Mar Roxas II, while Perez and Belo were independent candidates.
Patricio had been at the helm of Pilar for almost three decades.
Perezs father, Porferio “Peryeng” Perez, preceded Patricio as mayor also for 30 years.
Meanwhile, Derramas was running for his last term as Panitan mayor, which was occupied by former mayor Josefina Dequina, mother of Katherine.
