Two orphaned brothers and their cousin who stood as their guardian were arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation evening of Feb. 3 in Jaro, Iloilo City.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 3 arrested brothers Roque Brillo, 21, and Angelo Brillo, 18, and their cousin Kristela Aloquin, 31, all residents of Barangay Tacas, Jaro.
Major Eduardo Siacon, Jr., ICPS3 chief, said Aloquin’s live-in partner, a certain Pappy, escaped.
The trio was apprehended after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P5,000.
Following their arrest, police also recovered seven more sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug items.
Siacon said the seized drugs weighed around 100 grams with a standard drug price of P680,000.
Siacon said that Aloquin and her live-in partner had been placed under police monitoring since last year.
“But they were slippery. There were attempts to arrest them but were not successful until Saturday night’s operation,” he said.
But alias Pappy was able to evade arrest, leaving behind Aloquin and her two cousins.
The couple allegedly used the two brothers as their runners.
All three arrested suspects had no previous arrests.
They, together with alias Pappy, will be charged for violation of violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
