BACOLOD CITY – Two men were arrested in a buy-bust operation that yielded PHP544,000 worth of suspected shabu in Barangay 18 late Wednesday night.
Police identified the suspects as “Rom,” 53, the subject of the operation, and “Seg,” 41, his companion, both residents of Barangay 27.
Police Major Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 2, said the suspects had been under surveillance for some time before authorities were able to transact with them.
Both suspects allegedly yielded 80 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP544,000.
Tolentino said the suspects did not disclose the source of the illegal drugs.
He added that investigators are still conducting background checks on the two as they prioritize the filing of drug charges.
Rom is classified as a high-value individual, while Seg, identified as a conspirator, is considered a street-level target.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has recently conducted major anti-drug operations, resulting in significant seizures of suspected shabu and marijuana.
The BCPO was recently recognized by the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) for the outstanding performance of some personnel in the campaign against illegal drugs.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) was commended Monday for its relentless efforts and dedication to keeping the community safe from the threat of illegal drugs.
Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, praised the unit’s hard work and commitment.
“This award symbolizes the continuing commitment of BCPO to uphold the law and protect our communities from the dangers of illegal drugs,” Coronica said in a statement.
