ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Two persons were arrested after they were caught Thursday afternoon, April 30, conducting illegal fishing activities in Barangay Quiajo, President Roxas, Capiz.
Police identified the suspects as “Toto,” 44, and “Smith,” 26, both residents of the barangay.
The two were arrested for alleged illegal fishing using a trawl without a permit.
Authorities recovered from the suspects a motorized banca worth PHP 120,000, fishing paraphernalia worth PHP 10,000, and seven kilograms of assorted fish worth PHP 1,500.
The suspects, along with the confiscated items, were placed under the custody of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of the President Roxas local government.
They will be turned over to the President Roxas Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of the Municipal Fisheries Code of 2012, or Ordinance No. 3, Series of 2012.
