The celebration of the Second Guimaras Data Festival is in line with the 36th National Statistics Month spearheaded by the Provincial Statistics Committee of the Provincial Development Council of Guimaras, and the quiz aims to promote among learners an appreciation of the value of statistics in national and local development, advocate data-driven decision-making through statistical literacy, and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in enhancing the province’s data ecosystem.
Each participating school was represented by three students, and the schools included Buenavista National High School of Buenavista, Trinidad V. Canja–Sta. Teresa National High School of Jordan, Nueva Valencia National High School of Nueva Valencia, Remedios E. “This activity is vital in instilling among our young learners the importance of data in understanding our society and in making informed decisions that contribute to national development, let us all take part in the province’s efforts towards a progressive Guimaras, and to the country’s efforts towards a progressive Philippines in totality,” Losare said.
Participants showcased their statistical knowledge and analytical skills by answering questions related to the 36th National Statistics Month theme, statistical terms and concepts, rates and proportions, measures of central tendency, variability, skewness, kurtosis, and other topics including data organization, tabular and graphical presentation, and probability.
