The Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas (TUP-V) based in Talisay City, Negros Occidental clinched the championship title at the 28th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Championship held on November 8, 2024, at Diversion 21 Hotel in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Resh S. Garcia, representing TUP-V, emerged as the top competitor, guided by his coach, Engr. Kevin Claveras.
The event was organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office (PSA RSSO) VI.
The regional competition featured 17 representatives from various schools and provinces, all of whom advanced by excelling at the PSQ-Provincial Level.
The PSQ, a nationwide annual event since 1992, aims to foster awareness and appreciation of statistics among Filipino youth. It is jointly led by the PSA and the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. (PSAI).
Yel Pogoy of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) claimed second place, while Charles Lawrence Benares of Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod secured third.
Garcia will represent Western Visayas in the 28th PSQ National Championship on December 5, 2024, in Manila, where he will compete against other regional champions from across the country.
