BACOLOD City – A truck driver was wounded after he got stabbed due to a misunderstanding that erupted during a liquor drinking session at Barangay Camugao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Police identified the victim as Gilvimar Opsima, 35, of Barangay Inapoy.
According to the police, Opsima and the suspect identified as Franklin Saludo, 35, of Barangay Salong were drinking liquor when the commotion occurred.
Saludo, who was armed with a knife, allegedly stabbed the victim’s body, face, left upper arm, and back.
The victim managed to escape and asked help from a security guard. He was taken to a hospital.
Saludo surrendered to the barangay watchmen and will be facing frustrated homicide charges, according to Lieutenant Joemel Salarda, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station.
