Truck driver in deadly road mishap freed

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The driver of a cargo truck that bumped and killed 3 minor boys on board a motorcycle early Sunday morning at Brgy. Poblacion Ilaya in Dumarao, Capiz was released from police custody after he promised to shoulder the burial expenses of the victims.
Joenec Osoya, 33, said his employer and owner of the cargo truck, will help him in settling the incident.
The three minor boys were aged 12 to 13 years old and all residents of Barangay Janguslob of said town.
The incident happened 2:15 a.m. Sunday when the Isuzu truck driven by Osoya of Bago City, Negros Occidental rammed into the motorcycle.
Investigation by Police Staff Sergeant Raffy Arcenas of Dumarao Municipal Police Station indicated that the accident happened when the victims’ motorcycle suddenly turned left.
Because of the strong impact, truck dragged the victims some 50 meters away from the crash site. They succumbed to injuries in the head and other parts of their bodies.
The victims were on their way home from the town’s slaughterhouse when the incident happened.
