ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Charges for illegal drugs and gun possession will be filed today, Aug 3, 2020, against a truck driver and his crew who were caught in a drug buy-bust operation Saturday morning at Barangay Dinginan here.
German Manatad, 37, truck driver and resident of Cagayan de Oro City, and his crew Dexter Mape, 25, of San Antonio, Quezon province are facing cases for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition).
The two were arrested by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Roxas City Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Capiz.
Recovered from the suspects were four sachets of suspected shabu, several drug paraphernalia, an M16 rifle with two magazines and 15 live ammunition, a .45 caliber with 5 live ammunitions, 3 cellphones, and several receipts pertaining to an Isuzu tanker truck.
The suspects were from Bacolod City and were about to deliver molasses to Batangas via Culasi port here when chanced by the police.
Manatad denied they owned the recovered illegal items. He said somebody else asked them to deliver the items in Batangas. But he admitted using illegal drugs.
According to Mape, they stopped in Brgy. Dinginan to rest when the police arrived.
The two are detained at the Roxas City police station.
