Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation (MIESCOR) is looking to partner with MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) and Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) to enhance power distribution and modernization efforts in Iloilo and Negros provinces.
The proposed collaboration aims to strengthen infrastructure development, workforce training, and system rehabilitation to ensure a more reliable and sustainable energy network for the region.
MIESCOR executives recently met with MORE Power and Negros Power officials at MORE Power’s Iloilo City headquarters to discuss potential joint projects.
Attendees included MIESCOR President Richard Ochava, Chief Operations Officer Wilfredo Bernardo, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Business Unit Head Sam Montoya, along with MORE Power President and CEO Roel Castro and Chief Operations Officer Engr. Bailey Del Castillo.
“We see a tremendous opportunity to support MORE Power’s expansion in Iloilo and its rehabilitation efforts in Central Negros,” said MIESCOR President Richard Ochava.
“Our expertise in power infrastructure development and rehabilitation aligns with their vision for a modern, efficient, and resilient energy system,” he added.
A subsidiary of Meralco, MIESCOR has extensive experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance, having completed major power projects across the country.
Beyond infrastructure, MIESCOR will provide training programs for MORE Power’s linemen, equipping them with advanced skills and best practices in power distribution.

“Investing in our workforce is essential for a safe and efficient power system,” said MIESCOR COO Wilfredo Bernardo.
“We are committed to sharing our expertise to elevate the skills of MORE Power’s linemen,” he added.
As part of the collaboration, MIESCOR and MORE Power will establish a Utility Attachment Office to regulate the attachment of telephone and cable lines to electric poles.
This initiative aims to eliminate hazardous and unsightly “spaghetti wiring” in Iloilo City, improving safety and aesthetics in urban areas.
MORE Power President Roel Castro expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing its potential impact on Iloilo and Negros provinces.
“We at MORE and Negros Power are grateful for MIESCOR’s interest,” Castro said.
“Their expertise in the power sector is highly respected, and their involvement would be invaluable as we expand and modernize our operations,” he added.
He highlighted the shared vision of providing sustainable and reliable energy solutions for local communities.
“This partnership holds great promise for achieving even greater progress in delivering better power services,” Castro said.
