A tricycle driver was arrested anew following a firearm raid at his home in Dumangas, Iloilo, on the evening of Oct. 27.
Police identified the suspect only as alias Jerry, 54, a resident of Barangay Dacutan, Dumangas.
Members of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station served a search warrant against the suspect for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The raiding team recovered a caliber .45 pistol during the search and seizure operation.
Executive Master Sergeant Kim John Banzon, Dumangas police investigator, said they had received complaints against the suspect for the illegal discharge of a firearm.
In fact, complaints were lodged against him in June and August 2025.
Banzon said they received reports that the suspect would often vent his frustrations by firing his gun whenever he had a fight with his wife.
When asked why he kept a firearm, Jerry merely said it was for protection.
It was learned that the suspect had also been arrested for the same offense during a search operation in 2018.
He pleaded guilty and was eventually placed on probation.
Jerry is now detained and will again be charged for violating Republic Act 10591.
