BACOLOD City – Another shooting incident happened here this week, killing a tricycle driver along corner San Juan-Luzuriaga Street in Barangay 13 last Saturday.
The victim was identified as Jestoni Sabare, 30, of Barangay 13 here.
Major Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 1, said the victim stopped by in front of a store to buy softdrinks when an unidentified lone gunman on a motorcycle shot him (at close range) from behind.
Sabare succumbed to a lone gunshot wound in the head, according to Sarona.
Sarona believed that the victim may have been tailed by the perpetrator, who was wearing a helmet and a jacket.
Police recovered from the scene an empty fired cartridge and a fired bullet of an alleged .45-caliber ammunition.
Sarona said they will check the background of the victim to determine if he had records.
He said they will also talk to the victim’s family to determine if he had enemies or threats prior to the shooting.
Last Wednesday, an alleged police asset was also gunned down by unidentified perpetrators in Barangay 35 here.
Four shooting incidents were reported here this month. Of the four, three were fatal incidents.
Meanwhile, anti-crime and corruption group Task Force Kasanag urged the police to resolve the case of Sabare whom it acknowledged as its member.
Task Force Kasanag founder and national commander John Chiong said he could not think of any reason why Sabare was killed as he could vouch that the victim is a member of good standing. (With a report from Dolly Yasa)
