BACOLOD City – A man was allegedly shot dead by his brother-in-law at Barangay Paticui, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental Thursday night.
Killed was Gregorio Pancho, 59, of the said village.
Police Major James Latayon, town police chief, said Pancho was drinking liquor with some friends and relatives when the suspect Germilo Cañon, 49, a tricycle driver, allegedly shot him at close range using a homemade shotgun then fled.
Pancho was declared dead in a hospital.
Prior to the incident, Cañon and Pancho had a heated argument over the preparation for the wake of the former’s mother.
It probably triggered the incident, since they have no previous altercation, Latayon said Cañon is still at-large. The victim’s family is willing to press murder charges against him.
