BACOLOD City – A multiple vehicular accident killed a tricycle driver and wounded his four passengers in Barangay Tinampaan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Police identified the fatality as Rodrigo Magbanua, 53, of Barangay Zone 2.
Lieutenant Gina Fernandez, deputy police chief of Cadiz City Police Station, said that Magbanua was supposed to send his passengers home when the accident happened.
Fernandez said the tricycle was allegedly speeding when it hit a multicab vehicle it was tailing.
This caused the tricycle to swerve and overlapped to the opposite lane and collided with a canter truck.
“Medyo dasig dalagan niya (Magbanua) and nasugata niya ang canter,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez said that Magbanua succumbed to severe injuries, while his passengers were already stable in a hospital.
Fernandez said the drivers of the multicab and canter truck are under police custody for further investigation, pending the decision of the families of the victims.
