BACOLOD CITY — A 52-year-old tricycle driver was killed and two pedestrians were injured after being hit by a sedan driven by a 22-year-old college student in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental, around noon Monday.
Killed in the accident was a man identified only as “Armando,” a resident of the village.
The injured pedestrians were identified as “Charles,” 36, and “Maria,” 35, also residents of Barangay Taloc.
According to the police investigation, the tricycle was en route to Bacolod City when it was rear-ended by the sedan.
The impact caused both vehicles to swerve off course and hit the two pedestrians standing along the roadside before falling into a canal.
The tricycle driver was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The two pedestrians sustained injuries and received medical treatment.
The car driver was unharmed and has been placed under police custody pending further investigation.
