ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A tricycle driver classified as a street-level individual was charged Monday, May 4, for alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade following his arrest in Barangay Punta Tabuc, Roxas City, Capiz.
The Roxas City Police Station filed charges against the suspect, identified only as alias “Edmon,” 47, of Barangay IX, Roxas City, before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police said Edmon was charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted Saturday evening, May 2, by the station’s Drug Enforcement Team led by Lt. Loy Jay D. Fantilaga.
Police said the suspect is on the Capiz Police Provincial Office’s provincial priority target list.
Recovered from him was a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing 1 gram, with an estimated street value of PHP 6,800.
Police also recovered PHP 5,000 in buy-bust money.
The suspect is detained at the Roxas City Police Station.
Meanwhile, an inmate will remain detained at the Capiz Rehabilitation Center in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City, after another arrest warrant was served against him Friday morning, May 1, by the Ivisan Municipal Police Station.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Lando,” 69, a farmer from Barangay Mianay, Ivisan, Capiz.
The warrant was for unjust vexation and was issued by Judge Ramcez John Alamo Honrado, presiding judge of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Dao-Ivisan, Capiz, on Feb. 19, 2026.
The court recommended bail of PHP 5,000 for his temporary liberty.
He remains under the custody of the Capiz Rehabilitation Center.
