Traffic office implements re-routing for local political caravans, rallies

BACOLOD City – Traffic flow in some areas here will be affected as the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will implement re-routing schemes due to the scheduled motorcade and grand rally of two political parties on Saturday, March 26.
Affected routes based on the traffic plan of BTAO are – Bata route, Mandalagan route, and Banago route.
For Bata route, vehicles from San Sebastian – Araneta Street will turn left to Hernaez Street, turn right to Mabini, left to Lizares, back to Hernaez, right to Lopez Jaena, left to Rosario, and right to Locsin going to destination.
For Mandalagan route, vehicles from Lizares-Araneta, will turn left to Araneta, right to Hernaez, right to Mabini, left to Lizares, back to Hernaez, right to Lopez Jaena, left to Rosario, and right to Araneta going to destination.
For Banago route, vehicles from Lizares-Araneta, will turn left to Araneta, right to Hernaez, right to Mabini, left to Lizares, back to Hernaez, right to Lopez Jaena, and left to Luzuriaga, going to destination.
Private vehicles from north and south can use Circumferential road, Araneta, and San Juan Street.
Retired police officer Dennis Perma, public information officer of BTAO, said that more than 200 traffic enforcers will be deployed to control the traffic flow.
Perma said the re-routing is just temporary and will only take a short period of time.
Grupo Progreso led by reelectionist Mayor Evelio Leonardia will hold its grand rally at the Paglaum Sports Complex while the Team Asenso led by mayoralty candidate Alfredo “Albee” Benitez will be at the public plaza.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, public information of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said that hundreds of policemen will be deployed to man the streets and to ensure peace and order during the said activities.
He, however, did not reveal the exact number of personnel to be deployed, but he assured that the security plan is already in place.
Gabana said that personnel from the BCPO headquarters, Bacolod City Mobile Force Company, and Mobile Patrol Unit will augment the personnel of Police Station 1 which covers the two venues.
Gabana said that police assistance desks will also be set up in both venues.
