Traffic enforcer gunned down

BACOLOD City – Police are looking into work-related issues as possible motives behind the killing of a traffic enforcer in front of a public high school in Barangay Alimango, Escalante City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Reymond Lucero, 46, of Barangay Balintawak.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jake Barila, Escalante City police chief, said Lucero was supposed to fetch his wife when four unidentified perpetrators on board two motorcycles arrived and peppered him with bullets.

The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and body.

Police recovered from the scene three pieces of ammunition, eight cartridge cases, two deformed slugs of .45 caliber firearm, and some ammunition of .9mm caliber firearm.

Barila said that Lucero had been working as a traffic enforcer for years now.

“Medyo strikto daw siya sa traffic violations,” he added.

Barila said they already have a person of interest. He added that they are also checking the background of the victim if he had enemies.
