BACOLOD City – Traffic accidents in Negros Occidental decreased by 34.87 percent or 478 incidents from last year.
Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, deputy public information officer of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said that 893 accidents were recorded in 2020, while 1,371 accidents were reported in 2019.
Based on the records of Nocppo, the cities of Himamaylan and the town of Murcia recorded the most number of accidents with 79 each in the past year.
The town of Don Salvador Benedicto has recorded only one accident last year.
A total of 140 cases of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide were recorded, and the most number of traffic-related death accidents was reported in Kabankalan City, with 16.
For reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries, Nocppo recorded 428 accidents, while 325 cases were recorded for reckless imprudence resulting to damage to properties.
