ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 56-year-old employee of the municipal government of Tapaz, Capiz was hacked to death Saturday morning.
Police identified the victim as Rey Babas Sr. of Barangay Poblacion also of Tapaz.
Investigation by PCpl John Ferotsen Palacios of the Tapaz Municipal Police Station indicated that Babas was on his way home on board a motorcycle when Barangay Tanod Ranel Gerapista, 34, of Brgy. Apero blocked his path.
The bolo-wielding Palacios then hacked Gerapista in the right face, shoulder, head, and other parts of the body.
The victim was taken to Tapaz District Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Palacios fled after the incident.
Police said old grudges might be the motive behind the incident.
