A municipal government employee is now being hunted after he allegedly shot two
barangay tanods (village watchmen) evening of June 2, 2020 in San Remigio, Antique.
The suspect, Elmer Fordan, 44, a contractual worker of the local government of San Remigio, allegedly got irked after he was cautioned on the liquor ban imposed alongside the community quarantine.
Police identified the victims as Jimmer Aquino, 45 and Lucer Jawod, 48, both residents of Barangay Bugo, San Remigio.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Victor Villasor, chief of the operations section of San Remigio PNP, said Fordan was irked after the two victims and three other tanods cautioned him against buying liquor around 10 pm.
While the liquor ban was already lifted in Antique, buying and selling of alcoholic beverages are only allowed between 4 and 9 p.m.
The suspect went home driving his motorcycle. But he later went back and shot the victims.
While Aquino and Jawas were hit, their companions Valentino Baria, 50; Jose Fulgencio, 67; and Amelino Alejo, 64, were unscathed.
The two wounded tanod were rushed to Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Hose town while the suspect fled and remains at large as of this writing.
