BACOLOD City – Unidentified perpetrators killed an incumbent councilor in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental yesterday.
The victim was identified by the police as Councilor Rude Anthony “Tonton” Melodia, 29.
A report from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NORPPO) indicated that the shooting happened while Melodia was having his car washed at the roadside of Purok 3, Barangay Poblacion.
Three perpetrators on board two motorcycles arrived, shot him, and fled.
Melodia succumbed to gunshot wounds at Bayawan District Hospital.
Police recovered from the scene four empty shells of .45-caliber ammunition.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive for the incident.
