BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Raul Tacaca, director of Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), asked the cooperation of persons who may have knowledge behind the series of shooting incidents in the province.
Tacaca urged them to come out and help investigators address the spate of killings in order to bring justice to the families and relatives of the victims.
In the past weeks, several shooting incidents happened in various areas in the province, mostly perpetrated by motorcycle-riding assailants.
In fact, another shooting incident occurred Wednesday morning, killing Francis Kelly Aragones, 45, of Poblacion, Guihulngan City.
Investigation indicated that Aragones and his mother were riding a motorcycle on their way home when two unidentified men on another motorcycle, who were wearing bonnets and jackets, suddenly appeared and shot him several times at Barangay Basak.
The gunmen fled.
Aragones succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
Recovered from the scene were two fired cartridge cases of .45-caliber ammunition.
In a press statement dated July 9, Tacaca said Norppo is committed to put an end to all the killings transpiring in different places in the province.
“I am confident that peace-loving people will surface to stand their ground on the issues of shooting incidents perpetrated by the blood-thirsty criminals doing terroristic acts in order to destabilize the ongoing progress that the government brought upon the lives of the people in the province,” he said.
