Police arrested one of the region’s most wanted men for rape during an afternoon operation in Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo, Iloilo City on August 6.
The suspect, known by the alias “Martin,” is 55 years old and a resident of Iloilo City.
He was taken into custody at around 2:25 p.m. by joint operatives from the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company, Police Station 6, City Intelligence Unit, and Regional Intelligence Unit 6.
Authorities served a warrant of arrest issued the same day by a local court, with bail set at PHP120,000.
Martin had been listed as the No. 6 most wanted person in Western Visayas for the crime of rape.
The suspect is currently held at Iloilo City Police Station 6 pending further legal proceedings.
The arrest marks another high-profile capture in the Philippine National Police’s intensified campaign against fugitives and sex crime suspects across the region.
