Accounting has emerged as the most in-demand job specialization in the Philippines for the first half of 2025, according to new data from leading online job portal Jobstreet by SEEK.
The platform reported that accounting roles made up 11.81% of all job postings, highlighting a continued gap between industry demand and the supply of qualified professionals.
While STEM-related courses remain popular among students, Jobstreet by SEEK noted that the talent pipeline for accounting roles has not kept pace with market needs.
“Jobstreet by SEEK is here to provide work for Filipinos because we believe that everyone deserves access to a job,” said Joey Yusingco, Head of Marketing at Jobstreet by SEEK.
“Our goal is to empower every Filipino individual and help bridge the gap in unemployment by connecting them with the right opportunities,” Yusingco added.
Information & Communication Technology (ICT) ranked second with 11.14% of total job listings, while Sales followed closely at 10.10%, reinforcing the perennial demand for digital and revenue-generating roles.
Rounding out the top five were Call Centre & Customer Service (9.98%) and Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics (8.12%), both essential sectors as businesses continue to scale and digitize their operations.
Other specializations in the top 10 include Administration & Office Support (6.43%), Retail & Consumer Products (5.40%), Marketing & Communications (5.09%), Human Resources & Recruitment (5.09%), and Engineering (4.74%).
Sales and Marketing were among the fastest-growing job categories in recent months, attributed in part to the Philippines’ positive economic trajectory.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recently projected the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to rise from 5.4% in the first quarter to 6.2% in the second quarter of 2025.
This growth signals increased business activity and consumer demand, translating into more job opportunities across diverse sectors.
The report’s release comes at a pivotal time as thousands of fresh graduates enter the job market, many seeking their first employment opportunities.
To support this influx, Jobstreet by SEEK highlighted the availability of entry-level positions on its AI-powered job platform.
Jobstreet by SEEK is now hosting an average of 130,000 job postings per month, with increased listings driven by its Free Lite Ads initiative.
The feature allows employers to post unlimited job openings at no cost for 30 days, significantly boosting visibility for hiring companies and accessibility for jobseekers.
The platform aims to address unemployment by improving transparency and access to the job market through technology-driven solutions.
Accounting’s top rank reflects broader economic dynamics, including regulatory shifts, digital transformation in finance, and increased business compliance demands, which all require skilled professionals.
ICT’s strong showing underscores the digital transformation across industries, with companies racing to fill roles in cybersecurity, software development, and IT support.
The growth in Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service roles indicates renewed consumer confidence and increased spending, both offline and online.
Call centers continue to be a major employment driver in the country, reinforcing the Philippines’ status as a global hub for business process outsourcing (BPO).
Meanwhile, Engineering’s inclusion in the top 10 reflects ongoing infrastructure projects under the government’s Build Better More program, along with investments in energy, transportation, and urban development.
Retail and Human Resources also remain vital, reflecting the rebound of consumer-facing sectors and increased demand for talent management amid evolving workplace norms.
Jobstreet by SEEK’s report provides critical insight for jobseekers, especially new graduates and career shifters looking to align their skills with high-demand areas.
For employers, the data can guide recruitment strategies, training programs, and workforce planning in response to market demand.
Jobseekers can explore open positions and career guidance tools on jobstreet.com.ph, the company said.
As the Philippine economy continues to grow, experts expect talent shortages in high-demand fields to persist unless addressed through skills development, academic-industry alignment, and improved job-matching platforms.
Jobstreet by SEEK has reaffirmed its commitment to playing a central role in this ecosystem by leveraging its technology and reach to empower Filipino workers.
