An Oplan Tokhang surrenderer was arrested after he allegedly shot his son’s opponent evening of June 24, 2020 in Dingle, Iloilo.
Ben Bedrijo, 50, was nabbed at his house in Barangay Tinocuan, Dingle.
But the gun he used in shooting 21-year-old Reymart Lopez of Barangay Namatay, Dingle, was missing.
Bedrijo and Lopez both attended the birthday party of the former’s brother at Rolly Carinderia in Espino Street, Barangay Poblacion.
The cafeteria is owned by Bedrijo’s brother.
Police Captain Fernando Punzalan Jr., Dingle police chief, said a commotion happened around 6:45 p.m.
The suspect’s son and Lopez were both involved in the brawl.
Instead of pacifying, Bedrijo allegedly drew a gun and shot the victim.
Lopez was hit on the face but remains conscious after the incident, Punzalan said.
The victim was rushed to Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town while the suspect fled after the incident.
Punzalan said policemen immediately responded and caught Bedrijo who is now detained.
