Tokhang surrender falls in P884K drug bust

A 47-year old man was arrested in a police anti-illegal drug operation years after he surrendered through Oplan Tokhang.
Alias Bongbong, an employee of a distribution company and resident of City Proper, Iloilo City, was apprehended shortly before midnight of November 26 at Barangay Magsaysay, City Proper district.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Office- City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU), together with the Iloilo City Police Station 1, ICPO Special Weapons and Tactics Team and Regional Intelligence Unit 6, made the arrest after the suspect sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P8,000.
When he was frisked, the suspect was further yielded with 12 more sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug items.
Captain Roque Gimeno, ICPO-CDEU chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 130 grams with a standard drug price of P884,000.
Gimeno said the suspect was believed to be engaged in the illegal drug trade for a while already before he got busted.
Bongbong, a high-value drug personality, had no previous drug-related arrest.
He is is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
